Tesoro Barulero

"Tesoro Barulero" is a community program that brings together women artisans from the island of Barú, Colombia. They craft artisanal pieces using natural fibers, recycled materials, and local woods. Each creation reflects the identity and cultural richness of the territory, highlighting the value of handmade art as an expression of Barú’s heritage.

The collective was born during the pandemic as a solidarity-driven response to generate income and new life opportunities, becoming a space for mutual support, resilience, and the strengthening of the social fabric among women. Its mission is to boost creativity, organization, and economic autonomy for the artisans while preserving the traditional knowledge of the region.

The program is built on three pillars: organizational strengthening, creative development, and commercial training. Through these pillars, the artisans design and produce market identity-driven pieces made from banana fiber, recycled plastics, and local woods. Thanks to this process, Tesoro Barulero has participated in fairs, exhibitions, and local stores, establishing itself as a benchmark for cultural entrepreneurship and community transformation.
